Empowering Education in Jharkhand: Room to Read Seeks Program Documentation Associate
Introduction:
Jharkhand's educational landscape is set for a significant transformation. Room to Read, a globally recognized non-profit organization, in collaboration with the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), is launching a new initiative to strengthen the state's quality education ecosystem. This ambitious five-year project (2025-2030) aims to bring foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills to millions of children, and a critical role has opened up to capture this journey: the Associate, Program Documentation.
A New Chapter for Quality Education:
For over two decades, Room to Read has been a catalyst for change, believing that "World Change Starts with Educated Children®." In India alone, the organization has positively influenced the lives of over 18 million children across 10 states. Their latest partnership in Jharkhand marks a new chapter, with a State Project Management Unit (SPMU) being established to drive academic excellence, teacher development, and community engagement at a large scale.
The SPMU’s mission is to align with the state’s FLN mission, implementing data-driven strategies and strengthening the educational system from the ground up. This is where the role of documentation becomes vital—not just as a record-keeping function, but as a powerful tool for communication, advocacy, and learning.
The Role of a Storyteller and Advocate:
The Associate, Program Documentation will be at the heart of this transformation, acting as both a chronicler and a communicator. This position is much more than just a desk job; it requires a passionate individual to travel to field locations, engage with teachers and students, and unearth the human stories behind the statistics.
Key responsibilities include:
Capturing Impact: Developing compelling case studies and success stories that highlight the real-world impact on schools and students.
Creating High-Quality Content: Preparing monthly updates, quarterly reports, and donor briefs that synthesize project progress and outcomes.
Visual Storytelling: Systematically documenting the project's journey through high-quality photography and maintaining a repository of communication materials.
Data-Driven Narratives: Working closely with M&E and program teams to transform raw data into visually engaging and insightful communication materials like infographics and presentations.
This role is ideal for a professional with a postgraduate degree in fields like Public Policy, Development Studies, or Mass Communication. Candidates must have strong verbal and writing skills in both Hindi and English, and a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in the development or education sector. Prior experience working with government bodies at the state level is a significant plus.
Room to Read: An Organization of Impact:
Working with Room to Read means joining an innovative and rapidly growing organization dedicated to making a tangible difference. The organization offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and the unique opportunity to contribute to a mission that is transforming the lives of millions. As a child-safe organization, Room to Read is also committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children it serves.
The project in Jharkhand is an incredible opportunity to be part of a systemic change that will benefit generations to come. If you are a skilled communicator with a passion for education and development, this role is a chance to use your talents to document a legacy of positive change.
