Join the IRC in Phoenix: A Unique Opportunity to Drive Community Impact

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is on the front lines of global humanitarian crises, providing aid and support to people whose lives have been shattered by conflict and disaster. In the United States, the IRC continues this vital mission by helping newly arrived refugees and other displaced populations rebuild their lives. The IRC's Phoenix office, established in 1994, has been a cornerstone of this effort in Arizona, and is now seeking a dedicated individual to join its team as a Development Coordinator.

This is more than just a job; it's a chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and families. The Development Coordinator will be a central figure in the IRC's Phoenix operations, leading the charge in community engagement, fundraising, and volunteer coordination. This role is perfect for a highly motivated, compassionate, and organized professional who is passionate about helping others and building strong community partnerships.

A Pillar of Community Engagement and Fundraising

The Development Coordinator will be at the heart of the IRC’s efforts to expand and strengthen its network of support. By working with individuals, community groups, faith-based organizations, and businesses, you will play a crucial role in fostering a welcoming environment for refugees, asylees, and other immigrants. This position is a unique blend of relationship building, fundraising, and program coordination.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising: You will be instrumental in the IRC's private fundraising efforts, collaborating with the Development and External Relations team at the IRC headquarters to cultivate and engage local donors. Your work will directly contribute to meeting fundraising goals and ensuring the financial sustainability of the Phoenix office.

  • Volunteer and Intern Management: As the primary point of contact for volunteers and interns, you will oversee all aspects of the program—from recruitment and training to retention. Your goal will be to create a supportive and knowledgeable team that is fully equipped to assist IRC clients.

  • In-Kind Donations: You will develop and execute strategies for soliciting and managing in-kind donations. By identifying client needs and coordinating donation drives, you will ensure that essential items reach those who need them most.

  • Community Partnerships: Working closely with the Community Engagement and Advocacy team, you will expand partnerships with local organizations, spreading awareness and garnering support for the IRC's mission.

  • Event Coordination: You will be responsible for planning and overseeing donation and fundraising events, including the annual events that are critical to the office’s success. You will also represent the IRC at various community events, festivals, and fairs.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, and experience working with diverse clients in a non-profit setting. Strong project management and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. You should be a self-starter who is adaptable, flexible, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

This is a full-time position that offers a highly competitive benefits package, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 403b retirement savings plan with an immediate vested match, and generous paid time off.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you are a driven and compassionate individual with a passion for humanitarian work, this is your opportunity to join a leading global organization and make a lasting impact in the Phoenix community. The IRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.
