The organization challenges traditional gender roles by engaging women in viable, non-traditional livelihoods. Through transformative capacity-building programs, Azad Foundation equips women with the skills and confidence to succeed. The foundation also works with both men and women in communities to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone. Currently, Azad Foundation operates directly in several cities across India, including Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Chennai.
The Role: A Catalyst for Change
As the District Lead, you will be the driving force behind Azad Foundation's programs in Chennai. Your responsibilities will include:
Program Management: You will oversee and manage all of Azad’s programs in the city, including Women with Wheels, Feminist Leadership Program, Azad Kishori, and Men for Gender Justice. You will be responsible for planning, execution, and maintaining program quality.
Team Leadership: You'll lead a diverse team, fostering a flexible and open environment. This includes identifying capacity-building needs and ensuring your team has the support they need to succeed.
Driving Employment: A key focus of this role is the Women with Wheels program. You will be responsible for the entire process, from enrolling women from marginalized communities to providing transformative training and securing employment for them as drivers. This includes building strong relationships with clients and partners to exceed placement targets.
Community Engagement: You will plan and organize campaigns for gender equality and participate in campaigns organized by other organizations. You will also be responsible for creating a safe and learning-oriented atmosphere for all training programs.
Budget & Strategy: You will manage the program budget, analyze its utilization, and identify opportunities to strengthen program execution.
Who Should Apply?
This position is ideal for a cis or trans woman with 5 or more years of experience in sectors like capacity building, training, and advocacy. The foundation strongly encourages candidates from marginalized communities to apply.
You should have a graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as social work, sociology, gender studies, or development studies. Strong command of Tamil, English, and preferably Hindi is essential. Excellent communication and presentation skills are also a must.
The role offers a competitive monthly salary of ₹45,000 - ₹50,000.
