Passing Gifts Private Limited (PGPL), a subsidiary of Heifer International USA, is seeking a Farmer Field School Manager to lead its critical initiatives in Bihar. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to drive meaningful change and empower women smallholder farmers across six districts of North Bihar and other regions.
What You'll Do
As the Farmer Field School Manager, you will be at the forefront of a program designed to equip women farmers with the skills and knowledge needed for sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. Your key responsibilities will include:
Program Leadership: Oversee the planning, budgeting, and execution of Farmer Field Schools (FFS) across multiple districts. You'll ensure the curriculum is localized, relevant, and participatory, directly impacting the lives and livelihoods of women farmers.
Technical Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert on sustainable farming practices, including Integrated Pest Management (IPM), soil health management, and water-efficient irrigation. You will design and lead training programs for both field staff and community facilitators.
Impact and Evaluation: Implement a robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework to track progress and measure the program's impact. Your insights will drive adaptive management and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, research institutions, and partner organizations to create synergies and maximize the program's reach.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a dynamic leader with a Master’s degree in agriculture or a related field and over 7 years of program management experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. The ideal candidate will have:
Direct experience working with smallholder farmers and a deep understanding of regenerative and climate-smart practices.
Proven experience working with women's collectives, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), or farmer producer organizations (FPOs).
A sound understanding of the root causes of poverty in India and an ability to analyze development issues.
Fluency in Hindi and English (both written and spoken) is essential, along with a willingness to travel locally and internationally.
This is more than just a job—it's a chance to build a scalable, impactful initiative that enhances food security and fosters economic empowerment for women in rural communities.
