Founded as an outgrowth of the Criminal Justice Fellowship Program at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, the LAW Foundation was officially registered as a Trust in 2019. The organization focuses on providing:
Socio-Legal Aid Services for the custodial population in Bihar prisons.
Mental Health Support for incarcerated individuals from vulnerable sections of society.
Systemic Advocacy with the police, judiciary, and legal services authorities to ensure rights-based interventions.
The Role: Social Worker (Socio-Legal Aid Program)
The foundation is seeking a female professional (identifying as She/Her) for its Socio-Legal Aid Program (SLAP). The role is specifically designed to support young and first-time offenders through a holistic approach to rehabilitation and legal empowerment.

Primary Responsibilities
As a Social Worker with LAW Foundation, your work will extend from prison cells to rural communities. Responsibilities include:
Prison & Community Outreach: Identifying vulnerable undertrials and assessing their legal and socio-economic needs.
Family Engagement: Conducting home visits across Bihar to collect case information and facilitate access to government welfare schemes like pensions and health insurance.
Team Leadership: Training community para-legal volunteers and overseeing day-to-day project activities.
Documentation: Preparing project reports, intervention narratives, and case studies.
