The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join their team. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the accounting systems for IRC's RAI Cluster of Offices, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing critical data to management and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Finance Manager will be at the heart of the organization's financial health, with a range of key responsibilities:
Financial Oversight: The manager will track and analyze expenses and revenue, preparing annual and quarterly budgets to ensure the office operates with a surplus. This includes working closely with the Executive Director and development team on grant proposals and budget modifications.
Compliance and Reporting: A core part of the role is to ensure compliance with IRC's accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles. The Finance Manager will review transactions, prepare journal entries, and generate monthly financial reports for the IRC Cluster of Offices and various donors. They will also lead the monthly reconciliation of databases and facilitate internal and external audits.
Administrative and Internal Controls: This position involves more than just numbers. The Finance Manager will coordinate the protection of organizational assets, implement internal control procedures, and review service agreements for cost-effectiveness. They will also maintain grant and contract files and develop procedures to increase efficiency.
To be considered for this role, candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a graduate degree being preferred. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible finance, budgeting, and accounting experience is required, ideally within a grant-driven, not-for-profit environment. Prior team management experience is also strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have solid skills in computer-based accounting, be proficient in general office software, and possess excellent communication and time management abilities. Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential.
