Core Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations Mastery: Proactively engage with media outlets to pitch stories, manage inquiries, and position CARE as a go-to source for expert commentary on humanitarian issues.

  • Executive Thought Leadership: Collaborate with CARE's leadership team, including the CEO, to develop and execute a thought leadership strategy that elevates their voices and perspectives.

  • Spokesperson Development: Empower and train CARE's spokespeople to confidently and effectively represent the organization in media interviews and public appearances.

  • CEO Social Media Strategy: Drive the CEO's social media presence, creating compelling content and engaging with a global audience.

Who Should Apply?

This is a role for a seasoned communications professional with a passion for humanitarian work. CARE is seeking candidates with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Communications, International Relations, Journalism).

  • 8-12 years of experience in media relations, communications, or public relations.

  • A deep understanding of the U.S. and international media landscape.

  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Prior experience in managing executive-level communications.

While the position can be remote, preference will be given to candidates based in the Washington, D.C. area. Experience working with a humanitarian NGO or in a major communications agency is also highly desirable.
