🌱 Driving Sustainable Change: SEEDS Trust Seeks M&E Officer for Landmark Agroforestry Project in Tamil Nadu
SEEDS Trust, a non-profit dedicated to the livelihood development of forest-dependent communities and landscape conservation in Tamil Nadu, is embarking on a vital new initiative. The organization is actively searching for a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (M&E) Officer to ensure the success and maximize the impact of its ambitious agroforestry project in the Dindigul district.
🌳 The Agroforestry Project: Rehabilitating Landscapes and Empowering Communities
The new project, backed by the Livelihoods Carbon Fund SICAV-RAIF-LCF3, Luxembourg, focuses on the Ayyalur landscape in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Its core objective is twofold: to rehabilitate degraded landscapes and achieve better livelihoods for the approximately 8,000 families residing in the fringe villages of the proposed Kadavur Slender Loris Sanctuary.
This extensive conservation-plus initiative involves planting multi-purpose and fruit tree saplings across about 8,000 hectares of private farmlands. The expected income generation from the trees and allied activities is designed to reduce pressure on the Ayyalur forest and significantly improve community resilience. Crucially, this work will directly contribute to key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), placing this local action in a global context.
The role falls within highly relevant sectors, including Agriculture, Livelihoods, Microfinance, Environment, Climate, and, of course, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research.
🔍 The Essential Role: Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Officer
SEEDS Trust is recruiting one full-time M&E Officer on an annual contract, based in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. This officer will be the backbone of the project's accountability and learning functions, reporting directly to the Project Director.
The main function is to lead the project's overall monitoring, evaluation, and learning needs. This includes providing technical oversight for the Project’s Information System (MIS) and Applications and developing digital tools to capture real-time data on activities and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), aligning with SEEDS Trust and Livelihoods Venture standards.
Key Responsibilities and Impact:
M&E System Management: Developing and implementing the comprehensive M&E plan, ensuring systems meet the requirements of SEEDS Trust, the Livelihoods Carbon Fund, and the Gold Standard.
Data Quality and Integrity: Coordinating and supervising regular data collection, performing verification and validation, and managing data storage within the MIS with a strong focus on ethical data collection and confidentiality.
Evidence-Based Learning: Moving beyond mere outputs to monitor long-term outcomes and impact. The officer will lead Learning Dissemination and support Adaptive Management, ensuring insights are shared and feedback is integrated for continuous improvement.
Technical Support: Providing M&E expertise for activities like tree audits, carbon verification, and annual surveys, and assisting in the creation of crucial project reports.
Capacity Building: Transferring essential M&E and MIS usage skills to project staff.
💼 Who Should Apply? Skills and Competencies
SEEDS Trust is seeking a candidate with a Postgraduate degree in a social or natural science discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation positions within the development sector.
