Driving Tech-Enabled Disaster Relief: Dhwani RIS Announces Program Manager Opening for 'Disaster Relief by Amazon'

In an era where technology and humanitarian aid intersect to save lives, Dhwani Rural Information Systems (Dhwani RIS) is stepping up its mission to enhance social impact. The Delhi NCR-based technology advisory firm is currently seeking a high-caliber Program Manager to lead one of India’s most significant private-sector disaster response initiatives: Disaster Relief by Amazon (DRbA).

Based in Bengaluru, this full-time role offers a unique opportunity for development professionals to manage a flagship program that operates at a massive scale.

The Mission: Bridging Technology and Relief

Dhwani RIS functions as the Program Management Unit (PMU) for the DRbA initiative. While the program is funded by Amazon (India and Global) and executed on the ground by Donatekart Foundation (DK), the Program Manager serves as the "single-threaded owner" responsible for governance, strategy, and accountability.

This isn't just a coordination role; it is a systems-thinking position. The successful candidate will oversee a complex 12-month implementation cycle that shifts from intense operational oversight during peak disaster months (May–October) to strategic planning and readiness during the off-season.

Key Responsibilities and Governance

The Program Manager is the primary liaison between corporate giants, NGOs, and government agencies. Key duties include:

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Chairing weekly governance calls with partners and presenting monthly reviews to Amazon India.

  • SLA Management: Enforcing strict 72-hour delivery SLAs during disaster activations to ensure rapid relief.

  • Data Strategy: Defining the program's data architecture and requirements for automation pipelines, ensuring "manual effort" is minimized through smart tech solutions.

  • Financial Oversight: Managing budget utilization, vendor onboarding, and auditing processes.

Who Should Apply?

Dhwani RIS is looking for a professional with 5 to 8 years of experience in program management, ideally within the development sector, CSR, or humanitarian operations.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Systems Thinking: The ability to visualize how data flows across multiple organizations.

  • Stakeholder Expertise: Experience working with MNCs, NGOs, and government bodies.

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; however, a Master’s (MBA/PGDM) from institutions like TISS, IRMA, or XIMB is highly desirable.

  • Adaptability: The resilience to function effectively in high-pressure disaster contexts.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with M&E frameworks or data tools like Power BI.

  • Exposure to AI-assisted data analysis for reporting innovation.

    +1

  • Professional certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2.

Why Join Dhwani RIS?

This role is designed for those who want to build systems, not just manage them. Beyond competitive compensation, the position offers:

  • Global Exposure: Direct engagement with Amazon Global teams and international best practices.

  • Impact at Scale: Work that directly enables the delivery of essential supplies to disaster-affected communities across India.

  • Innovation-Driven Culture: Collaboration with a 100+ member team focused on tech-driven development.
