Protecting Our Planet: Earthjustice Seeks Research & Policy Analyst for Clean Energy

As the world grapples with climate change, the need for clean energy solutions has never been more urgent. Earthjustice, the premier nonprofit environmental law organization, is at the forefront of this fight, using the power of law to protect people's health, preserve natural resources, and combat climate change. The organization is currently seeking a Research & Policy Analyst to join its Clean Energy Program, with a specific focus on mitigating the environmental impacts of the rapid growth of AI/data centers and cryptocurrency mining.

A Critical Role in the Clean Energy Transition

This role is not just a job; it's an opportunity to be a key player in shaping the future of energy policy. The Research & Policy Analyst will provide strategic and technical support to Earthjustice's advocacy efforts at both state and federal levels. This includes:

  • Preventing the buildout of fossil-fuel generation: By analyzing and challenging proposed fossil fuel projects, the analyst will help prevent new sources of pollution from being built.

  • Eliminating barriers to clean energy adoption: The role involves identifying and advocating for policies that make it easier for communities and industries to transition to renewable energy sources like solar and wind.

  • Securing policies for a sustainable future: The analyst will research, analyze, and write advocacy documents that influence regulatory actions by key bodies such as state public utility commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and Regional Transmission Organizations.

A major focus of this position is addressing the soaring energy demands of emerging technologies like crypto mining and AI/data centers. These operations can strain existing power grids and encourage the use of fossil fuels, creating significant climate and community harms. The analyst will be instrumental in developing the factual basis for legal challenges and advocating for effective regulatory solutions to these issues.
