Mobile Creches is seeking a dedicated Research Associate to join their MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) team in Delhi. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a non-profit organization that has been a pioneer in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) for over 50 years. Since 1969, Mobile Creches has worked to promote early childhood development (ECD) for India's most marginalized children, including those in urban slums and children of migrant workers at construction sites.

The organization uses an integrated approach that focuses on health, nutrition, education, and community strengthening. Through these efforts, Mobile Creches has reached over 870,000 children and supported more than 2,000 creche centers across 13 states and union territories in India. The organization also influences government policies and trains the ECD workforce. Mobile Creches is officially recognized as the National Creche agency by the Indian government and aims to accelerate ECD services by scaling up in partnership with the government and civil society.

Role and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for the Research Associate position is a detail-oriented individual with a

Master's degree in Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Development Studies, or a related field. The position requires 2-3 years of experience in conducting literature reviews, secondary research, developing research tools, and collecting both quantitative and qualitative data.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Conducting comprehensive literature reviews and synthesizing research findings.

  • Designing and developing research tools like surveys, interview guides, and focus group protocols.

  • Collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Assisting with data management, cleaning, and preliminary analysis.

  • Supporting the design of research methodologies and contributing to research reports, publications, and presentations.

  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure research integrity and quality.

  • Staying current with research trends in sociology, development studies, and ECD.

Familiarity with software like SPSS, Stata, or NVivo is a plus. A strong understanding of theoretical frameworks in Early Childhood Development is also desirable.
